Floyd “Bud” Hall, 91, of Caledonia (Leighton Township) died Monday, Jan. 31, at his home at Green Lake.

Born in Grand Rapids on March 28, 1930, the son of Floyd and Lutie (Surrat) Hall, he graduated from Central High School, Class of 1950, where he was a state football champion. Planning to play football at MSU and major in forestry, but as a reserve he was called to military service. He started with the Navy and was soon recruited to US Army 11th Airborne division, during the Korean War.

For a large part of his life he ran his own business, Hall Distributing, delivering dairy products to factories, businesses and schools. He also worked 13 years and retired from Chemco Products.

Passionate about the outdoors and nature, he enjoyed fishing on Green Lake or working in his garden.

Bud is survived by his wife of 15 years, Ione Wagner Ripley and was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Wilna Mitchell. His surviving children are: Jim (Sheila) Hall, Anna Maria, FL, Sue Anne (John) Campbell, Ada, MI, and Beth (Keith) Kirkham, Cairo, Egypt, and 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, followed by a funeral at 11 a.m. at Gaines Church, 1612 92nd St. SE, Caledonia. Interment in Rest Lawn Memorial Park.
