The Fourth of July holiday celebrations in Leighton Township next week will be spread over two consecutive days, Tuesday, July 3 and Wednesday, July 4.

The festivities will be kicked off with a patriotic style boat parade on Green Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Participating boaters are asked to meet in the big lake by the slalom ski course to cruise around the entire lake.

Fireworks will begin at dusk Tuesday evening with a rain date scheduled for Friday, July 6.

Wednesday’s activities will start with a a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m.  at the Calvary Church gym, 608 145th Ave, with a cost of $3 for adults and $1 for kids ages 12 and under.Those attending should use the west driveway.

Proceeds will help go toward defraying costs of the fireworks display. The public also is being asked to bring along canned goods, which will be donated to Project Hope for the emergency food pantry.

The “Land Parade” will step off at noon, with lineup at 11:30 a.m. in the west parking lot of Green Lake Calvary Church. The procession will be east down 145th Avenue (Kalamazoo Avenue) to South Shore Drive, then to Round Lake Drive, and back to Kalamazoo Avenue, ending at the Green Lake fire station.
