The Leighton Township Board is looking for a citizen willing to serve on the Township Planning Commission.

Supervisor Steve Deer Thursday night announced that Plan Commission Chairman Al Zuidema has stepped down because he has moved to Byron Center. Scott Chestnut has been named as his successor as chairman.

“We appreciate Mr. Zuidema for his long-time service to our township,” Deer said.

Members of the Planning Commission are pair $45 each for every meeting, the secretary gets $50 and the chairman $55.

Meanwhile, the Township Board Thursday evening approved the appointment of Jonathan Guy Roodvoets to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
