Lifelong local woman Rachel Ward’s service Saturday

15823158_10154780297226132_1640067606727546038_nRachel Madelon (Hiar) Ward, age 77, died Dec. 29, during a recent hospitalization at Florida Hospital, Sebring Fla.

She was born in Leighton Township Oct. 26, 1939, the daughter of Carl and Gertrude (Guffin) Hiar.

She leaves behind three children Steven (Dan Palma) Ward, Pamela (Tim) Allison, Patricia (David) McCowen; her 6 grandchildren, Sara Karwoski, Ashley Wienczkowski, Rachel (Steven) Kolar, Matthew (Lindsay) Bilotti, Alicia (Charlie) Elkins, Kaylee McCowen; and her 5 great- grandchildren, Gabriella, Teagan, Reece, Caden and Charlie; Sister in-law Stella Hiar, and many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Douglas, her daughter Debra, parents Carl and Gertrude Hiar, father and mother in law Dale and Dorothy Ward, brother Ken Hiar and sister Virginia Porter.

Funeral and committal services in celebration of life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at St. Therese Catholic Church 128 Cedar St., Wayland. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Family will be greeting members of the community for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 5:30 Friday, Jan. 6 at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home – Wayland Chapel 312 N. Main St. and one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.

Memorials may be made to Wayland EMS or the Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center.
