Local Big Boy restaurant closing; Culver’s to move in

Credible word on the street is that the Elias Brothers Big Boy restaurant on West Superior Street near the U.S.-131 expressway will close soon to make way for a Culver’s franchise restaurant. There was no information about whether the eatery and building were sold, but it is changing hands. It is widely believed that the death Aug. 2 of Manager Brian J. Smith hastened the development.

According to a big boy employee this isn’t very “credible.”

After speaking to a long time employee of big boy yesterday, this information isn’t credible. We shall see.

Hope it is just a rumor! Fast food is “eating” up eateries that allow you to sit down, look at a menu and have a waitress take your order when YOU are ready, not stand in a line! Hope it is only a rumor.

I love that big boy and Bryan was really a great guy. Sorry to have heard the news about him. I worked with him and Tom for many years and so did most of my family. Sentimental is how Ive grown to feel about big boy and while I love Culver’s, some things are better left the way they are.

Totally true, just took awhile. Now Big Boy is closed and I’m so excited about Culver’s!! Seems to be pretty credible, negative Nancy’s ????

Been almost a year and I haven’t seen any signs that Culver’s is coming
