The historic solar eclipse Monday afternoon had millions of people looking to the sky, including many area residents. JC Wheeler Library in Martin was host to more than 120 people to witness the significant solar event.
Clouds were a concern for much of the afternoon. As two o’clock came, the sky cleared and there was excitement as the eclipse was fully visible.
“We had a really good turnout,” said Library Director Alicia Kershaw, “I think everyone had fun.”
Similar events were held at other libraries in the area, including the Henika District Libraryin Wayland, the Dorr and Hopkins libraries combined and Otsego District Public Library.
Another total eclipse will happen in 2024, and apparently it promises to have many fans.
