The Wayland Union Middle School Spelling Bee went 13 rounds and resulted in Audra Nielson claiming the title as champion. The winning word was “insufferable.” Ariel White came in second place, Lena Phillips in third, and Brayden Miner fourth. All four students now will move on to the Allegan Country Spelling Bee, which will be held Feb. 27 at the Otsego Middle School auditorium. Jackson White is the runner-up and will fill in if any of the other contestants cannot make it.
