Local Right to Life activist Gabriella Lenhart dies at 85

Gabriella Lenhart, age 85, died Monday, Aug. 19.

Gabriella was a devoted housewife and mother. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, cooking for others, and her faith in God, attending St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church and supporting Right to Life.

She is survived by children Laura (Steve) Bird, Philip (Anita) Lenhart, David (Sheila) Lenhart, Julius (Beverly) Lenhart, Lawrence (Sheri) Lenhart and Louis (Susan) Lenhart; daughter-in-law, Gloria Lenhart; brother, Carl Zerfas; brother-in-law, Merlin Steffes; 29 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lenhart; parents Anthony and Gertrude Zerfas; and son, William Lenhart.

Visitation will be held from 4 to  7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22,at Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St.  A Rosary will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23,  at St .Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church 2459 146th Ave., Byron Center.

In honor of Gabriella and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Right to Life.
