Local shooting suspect arrested, arraigned in court

A 24-year-old Grand Rapids man has been arrested by Wayland Police Department officers and arraigned in Allegan County District Court on charges of illegal discharge of a firearm in the city.

Rodney Sylvester Davis was arraigned in District Court and charged with:

  • Intentionally discharging a firearm at a dwelling, punishable by 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine,
  • Carrying a firearm during the commission of a felony, a 10-year felony.
  • Aggravated stalking, a felony punishable by up to five years of incarceration.

Authorities said the incident occurred on Sunday, Nov. 1, in the 2500 block of Toronto Trail. They were summoned to the scene to answer a complaint that a man had fired a gun into a house.

Officers located several shell casings and several apparent bullet holes in the residence, but no one was struck or injured.
