Longtime Ryno’s proprietor Mike Hanacek dies at 90

Michael “Mike” Hanacek, perhaps best known in the area as longtime proprietor of Ryno’s Market convenience store south of Wayland, died Saturday, Aug. 11. He was 90.

Born Sept. 11, 1927, Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving him is one sister, Dorothy Hackett, of Wayland; her children, Jim Hackett, Julie (Ken) Marquard, and Joanne (Bob) Roberts; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, John and Elizabeth Hanacek; brothers, Steve, John, Andy, Joe; sisters, Thelma and Judy.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar St. Wayland with visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior.

In honor of Mike and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church or Faith Hospice.
