Hopkins native Sally Esther Bauer, affectionately known to many as Meema, died at her home April 14. She was 76.

Born March 9, 1948, Sally’s roots ran deep in Hopkins, where she was born to Joe and Nina Roxury, who, along with her brothers Dennis and Terry Roxury, have preceded her in death.

She grew up surrounded by her loving siblings Jim, Danny, Michael, Tom, Pat, JoAnne, and Mary.

After graduating from Hopkins High School in 1966, Sally dedicated her professional life to the Laurels of Sandy Creek in Wayland, where she ran the office. She ordered medical supplies, ensuring those in need were well provided for.

But it was in the role of Meema that Sally truly flourished. Her children, Rhob and Aaron Bauer, alongside Maria Melinn and Heidi Green, called her mother.

Her love extended to her grandchildren – Michael and Angel Melinn, who have died, and Jonah, Hannah, Isaiah, Chloe, Olivia, David, Abby, Annastasxia, Rhys, and Anthony, and her great-granddaughter River Jo.

There was no information about a funeral, burial oe visitation. Arrangemenrts are being handled by the Ofield Funeral Home in Gramd Rapids.
