Harry Ogden Brown, age 99, of Watson Township died Friday, July 1.
Born Aug. 21, 1916, in Martin, to the Stanley and Louise Brown, he was the second of five children, including the late Mildred McGuire, Howard Brown, Eleanor Knuth Priest and William Brown. Harry lived a wonderful life and made sure that he enjoyed all of his 99 years. He loved to hunt and fish and spent a lot of time traveling the U.S.A. in his travel trailer.
Harry was a farmer all of his life, buying his farm in 1941 in Watson. He worked for Fuller/Eaton Corporation for 10 years and was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also lucky enough to spend his winters in Florida, enjoying the sunshine.
Surviving are his daughter-in-law, Robert and Angeline Brown; nine grandchildren: Rick (Deb) Buist, Cheryl (Ron) Osentoski, Jim (Jennie) Brown, Chuck (Chris) Brown, Kim (Brian) Chiaramonte, Karen (Richard) Millward, Jeremy (Kris) Harnish, Adam (Christi) Harnish and John Brown; 28 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Jack Buist and his wife, Everdene; son-in-law, David Harnish and his wife, Linda; brother-in-law, Cobe Coburn; sister-in-law, Louise Pettit; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma (Clawson) Brown; their daughter, Janet (Brown) Buist; son, Richard Brown; and daughter, Sandra (Brown) Harnish; granddaughter, Cathy (Brown) Channells; grandson, Bruce Brown; and daughter-in-law, Gloria (Brown) Meendering.
Friends may meet with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, rosary recited at 6 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (2036 20th St., Allegan, MI 49010), Rev. Father Harry Potter officiating. Internment at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
