Longtime local business owner Ed Wobma, 91, dies

Ed Wobma, 91, founder and longtime owner of Wobma & Sons Equipment in Wayland Township, died Sunday, Dec. 20.
His wife, Gloria, died on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24. She was 87.
Wobma founded his farm and garden equipment machinery business just south of Wayland on 10th Street 65 years ago and it still is being operated by his son, Jim. The business was started in 1955 and was incorporated in 1979.
Robert Genther posted on the Cook-Kubiak Funeral Services Facebook page, “Ed Wobma has been a member of the Wayland business community for a very longtime. His strong Christian values were obvious in his business and he and Gloria raised a fine family in that same spirit. He will be missed and I am saddened that another of my business role models has passed.”
There have been no indications of funeral arrangements as yet.
