Lucas Miner, 30, of Wayland, was killed Thursday afternoon when the van he was driving collided with a large truck at an intersection in Leighton Township.

Troopers from the Wayland post of the Michigan State Police said the crash, occurred intersection of 142nd Avenue and Kalamazoo Drive. Authorities said Miner’s southbound utility van didn’t stop at the stop sign and hit a westbound straight truck.

The driver of the straight truck was hospitalized at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo with minor injuries.

The accident caused a power pole to be snapped and traffic was rerouted for several hours.
