Lyle Holden, 75, of Monterey Twp., dies at his home

Lyle Rae Holden, 383840975, of Monterey Township, died Friday, Aug. 12, at his home.

Mr. Holden was born March 2, 1941 in Dearborn, Michigan, the son Earl and Mary (Grant) Holden. He graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Lyle worked for the Lifesaver Company in Holland  for 28 years, but what he really loved was building boats. He was fortunate enough to use his abilities to build various types of boats: Slickcraft, Morgan Yachts, AMF, Chris-Craft. Lyle was a very creative and handy individual. He could always figure out how to build or fix things.

In his spare time, you could find him watching or talking about NASCAR, playing a game of pool or just out riding his motorcycle or driving his Falcon and enjoying his surroundings.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Ardice; four children: Debbie Arredondo, Kimberly Martel, Molly Holden and Lenny Delp; four grandchildren: Christopher, Briana, Michael and Samantha; nine great-grandchildren: Justin, Carson, Rayleigh, Sofia, Julius, Aubriana, Liam, Henry and Gracie; one brother, John and Anne Holden.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lyla Mae Van Dine.

Friends may meet with the family from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at the Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, where the memorial celebration of his life will be held at 7 p.m..
