Main Street Bakery in downtown Hopkins is closing Jan. 1 after being in business for six years.
The owners, the Price family, Nick Katy, Denise and Derrick, posted on Facebook todat, “The last two years have presented a few challenges to us, both financially and otherwise. It’s been particularly challenging keeping pace with ingredient and staffing costs.
“Add to that, that my family is growing up and there are times I’ve wanted to be more involved in the exciting events and milestones that come with that, but haven’t been able to. My mom is also approaching retirement age and while she’s not ready to fully retire yet, she would like to work fewer hours than she currently is.”
The Price family indicated that their catering company, Acclaimed Catering, will operate from their current location.
“We’re already talking and brainstorming how we can utilize our building and our catering company to provide a retail service to those in the village and in surrounding areas so stay tuned!
“This isn’t the end for us, it’s just the end of the beginning. We’re continuing to grow and evolve and find out what works and doesn’t work. Unfortunately, at this point, we just couldn’t find a path forward for owning a bakery.”
