Wayland High School graduate Mallory Teunissen has been named to the first unit of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Association (GLIAC) all-star team.

Teunissen, a Davenport University junior pitcher from Dorr and 2015 graduate of Wayland High School, pitched in 36 games throughout the season and finished with a record of 24-9, while also earning two saves. She had a 1.77 earned run average and struck out 238 batters while only walking 40.

She pitched a perfect game against Mount Vernon Nazarene Feb. 28, striking out five, three fly outs and seven groundouts.

In the GLIAC, she led league in wins with 24, innings pitched with 213.1, and had the third lowest ERA. This season she broke four DU records, most complete games (28), most innings pitched (213.1), most strikeouts looking (62), and tied for first in most shutouts (11).

For her career, she is 65-20, holds an ERA of 1.82, and has struck out 520 batters, while only walking 111.

Teunissen led the Lady Wildcats to a state championship in 2015 and was Division 2 all-state, and was selected top pitcher throughout the 2015 season in Michigan.
