Authorities have reported the drowning of a local man Sunday evening in a pond on 143rd Avenue in Leighton Township.
A neighbor called emergency personnel, saying the man was floating on the water in the pond about 20 feet from shore. Firefighters who responded had to dress in water rescue gear because the water temperatures were very cold.
Rescuers unsuccessfully attempted to revive the victim.
