Marie Bormet, 97, buried in Maplewood Cemetery

Marie Lorraine Bormet, 97, of Hopkins, died Thursday, March 7.

Born Dec. 29, 1921, to Peter and Blanche LaLonde in Chicago, Lorraine married Emil H Bormet. She and her husband maintained a farm in Orland Park Illinois and raised eight children. Lorraine was an avid reader, enjoyed time in the garden, and kept an immaculate house to welcome friends and family.

Lorraine enjoyed baking and her cinnamon swirl orange bread was a favorite of all. She lovingly made quilts for her family and gave many to Threads of Hope and Love. She was a devoted wife and cared for her husband many years during their retirement in Hopkins.

Surviving her is one brother, Robert (Irene) LaLonde, and seven children. Linda (Jerry) Gast, Mike (Joan) Bormet, Maryann (Steve) Slater, Becky (Frank) Land, David (Mary) Bormet, Melanie (Rob) Cronk, Jeannie Bormet and one daughter-in-law Barb Bormet. 21 grandchildren Jeff Gast, Jenny George, Stephanie Shunsky, Jake Bormet, Steven Slater, Sheryl Slater, Meagan Fosco, Greg Land, Jessica Priebe, Bill Bormet, Matt Bormet, Andy Bormet, Laura Webster, Lindsay Nielson, Christopher Cronk, Melissa Bell, Rebecca Rhodes, Samantha Bogacz, Emma Bormet, Danel Hull and Trevor Hull and 34 great-grandchildren.

Eil preceded her in death along with six siblings, Robert, Pearl, Irene, Peter, Leroy and Eugene; one son, Peter M Bormet, one grandson, Nathaniel Gast, and one great granddaughter Autumn Bormet.

Visitation was Monday, March 11, at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. The funeral was held Monday evening. Interment was to be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, for immediate family and for those who would like to attend at Maplewood cemetery, 130th and 17th Street, Hopkins.
