The Wayland boys’ varsity track team placed sixth among 15 teams in the Division 2 Michigan Coaches’ Track Association state meet Saturday at Berrien Springs.

Martin, meanwhile, placed third in the Division 4 MITCA state meet at Mt. Pleasant.

Martin was led by Drake Buell, who was individual champion in the pole vault by clearing an even 12 feet.

James Blackburn and J.R. Hildebrand went fourth and fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.88 and 17.10, respectively. Hildebrand was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 44.02 seconds and Blackburn sixth.

Sam Jager, Jackson Robinson, Tanner Bird and Bryce Robinson were fifth in the 800-meter relay in 1:37.77.and Blackburn claimed fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 18-07.5.

Blackburn, Jager, Gavin Meyers. And Taegan Harris hooked for fifth in the1600 relay in 3:44.93.

Wildcat junior Kharrie Purefoy was second in the 200 with his personal best time of 22.03 seconds and fourth in the 100 at 11.03. He also was third in the long jump at 20-03.

Austin Graham was runner-up in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with his career best 41.97 seconds.

Adam Huff finished second in the discus with a toss of 162-10.

The 400-meter relay team was fourth, featuring Terry Sylvester, Graham, Henry Maas and Pureifoy, in 44.16 seconds.

Aidan Reeder took fifth in the 400 with his personal best time of 51.81 seconds.

Devin Weaver was fifth in the 800 in 2:02.46.
