Sophomore Veyda Conley was third individually at the Hartford Teske Invitational Thursday, but Martin failed to field a full team of five runners and did not score in the meet.
The Clipper guys did come up with the minimum of five harries and took eighth place among 10 teams. Senior leader Alex Morin was able to come in 11th with a time of 19:47.79, sophomore Jadon Dettmann was 33rd, freshman Jeremiah VanHouten was 36th, sophomore Hunter Hayes 47th and Nicholas Anguiano-Cruz 66th.
The Clippers scored 177 points as a team, coming in ahead of Fennville and Comstock. Bangor won the meet with 80 points and Whiute Pigeon was a close second with 81.
The top two female runners managed to come in ahead of the 20-minute mark and Conley was third in 21:16.5. Emily King finished 13th freshman DuRae Sage was 14th and Kayden Jager was 31st.
So if the Clippers could have fielded a fifth harrier, they could have finished in a competitive place.
