The Martin girls’ basketball team Friday night set out to avenge a 48-46 loss earlier this season to Watervliet, but came up short in overtime.

After four long quarters, the score was tied at 39, but the Panthers shifted into high gear and ran off nine unanswered points to post a 48-39 decision over the Lady Clippers.

Sohomore Faith Guritz led the charge for Martin to drop in 14 points. Kiaya Warner wasn’t far behind with 13 and Jaclyn Hildebrand had 5 along with senior Briana Balder.

Ariana Rowe stepped up to notch 26 points for Watervliet. Panther teammate Zoe Smith, contributed 11.

Now an even 7-7, the Lady Clippers have a week to prepare for their big homecoming night against Coloma.
