The Martin girls’ varsity cross-country team bounced back Saturday at the Fennville Invitational after not scoring earlier this this week.

The Lady Clippers checked in second at Fennville with 43 points, only eight team points behind Niles.

The boys finished sixth, meanwhile.

Sophomore Veyda Conley again led the Martin harriers with a second-place finish in 20:43.4 over the 5,000-meter course. Senior Emily King took eighth, sophomore Sara Schipper was 12th, freshman Allison Rodgers 13th and sophomore Kayden Jager 16th.

The Martin girls earlier this week failed to field a team with the minimum of five runners and were denied a team score.

Senior Alex Morin again led the Clipper guys with a time pod 18:59.19, good for ninth place. He was followed by sophomore Jadon Dettmann in 29th, freshman Jeremiah VanHouten 40th,, sophomore Hunter Hayes 45th and Nicholas Anguiano-Cruz 57th.
