The Martin girls’ cross-country team placed 16th in the Michigan State Division 4 championship meet in Brooklyn Saturday.

The Lady Clippers scored 370 team points, just two points away from Fowler. Whitmore Lake was crowned state champion with 110 team points.

Sophomore Veyda Conley finished the 5,000-meter race in 20:00.2 just missing the 20-minute mark by two-tenths of a second. She finished 27th in the race and earned all-state accolades.

Freshman Allison Rodgers was 103rd in 21:43.2. Sophomore Sara Schipper was 126th in 22:11.7. Freshman DuRae Sage was 135th in 22:19.1 and senior Emily King 143rd in 22:23.7.

The Martin boys’ team had one harrier who qualified for the state meet, Alex Morin, who finished 99th in 17:52.1.

Hillsdale Academy won the Division 4 title with 113 team points.
