The Martin girls’ varsity basketball team lifted its overall season record to 13-7 with a 36-23 triumph over Delton.

The Lady Clippers started slow out of the gate, but held their opponent scoreless in the fourth quarter while pulling away. They led only 27-23 after three periods.

Martin also cemented its hold on second place in the Southwest Athletic Conference Central Division behind Saugatuck. The Lady Clippers finished at 8-2, with their losses coming once to Saugatuck and once to Gobles. Delton was winless in 10 games in the division.

Torryn Harris continued her fine offensive play of late with 13 points and Makala Goddard counted eight points on five free throws and a three-point field goal.

The Martin boys’ team concluded its regular season with a 59-37 loss to Delton, making its regular season record 1-21.

The Clippers will play Gobles at Gobles at 5:30 Monday in the first round of the Division 4 district tournament.
