The Martin girls’ varsity basketball team absorbed its fourth loss of the season overall against eight victories with a 38-33 defeat at Fennville Tuesday evening.

The Clippers started well with a 12-9 lead, but Fennville overtook them 19-17 at intermission and 27-24 at the end of three periods.

Junior forward Jazmine Hildebrand was the only Martin player to score in double figures, as she had 14 points. However, nobody else on the squad could muster more than five in a defensive struggle.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Clipper girls, as they will entertain league leader Gobles Friday at 7:30 p.m.
