The Martin girls’ varsity basketball team was blessed with four players scoring in double figures in a 57-48 victory Tuesday evening over Constantine.
The Lady Clippers used a 20-10 surge in the fourth quarter to register the triumph. They trailed 20-16 at the end of the first quarter and pulled even at 28-all at intermission. They were down by one point, 38-37, to start the final eight minutes.
Kiaya Warner and Jaclyn Hildebrand shared scoring honors with 13 points, and Briana Warner and Faith Guritz both added a dozen.
Kiaya Warner had a quality all-around game with eight rebounds and four steals. Hildebrand also came up with four assists and Freddie Elkins snared six rebounds.
Martin now is 14-3 on the season overall and will play its final regular season game at home Thursday against Galesburg-Augusta. The team, which has lost to undefeated Division 3 powerhouse Gobles twice, does not include one senior.
The Lady Clippers will be at home next week for the district Division 4 basketball tournament. They will play Wednesday evening in the opening round, with finals scheduled for Friday night.
