The Martin girls’ and boys’ cross-country squads did not have a particularly good day at the Kalamazoo Invitational Wednesday at Linden Grove Middle School.

The boys placed eighth among eight teams and the girls checked in sixth of the eight. It could be argued that the Lady Clippers were running almost exclusively against bigger schools except, Berrien Springs and Hartford, both of which they bested.

No Clipper individual cracked the top 10 in the boys’ meet. Alex Morin led the team taking 35th place with a 5K time of 21:25. He was followed by Gary Salvador-Garcia in 52nd, Jeremiah VanHouten 57th. Jadon Dettmann 58th and Hunter Hayes 64th.

Sophomore Veyda Conley led the Martin girls, taking eighth in 21:39. She was followed by Emily King 21st, Sara Schipper 25th, Allison Rodgers 38th and Kayden Jager 61st.
