The Martin High School National Honor Society sponsored a “Hygiene for Humanity” drive last week to benefit the Martin United Methodist Church food bank.
Students were encouraged to bring in soaps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine products, diapers and other personal hygiene products.
A fierce competition was held between high school fifth hour classes. Caryn Blackburn’s English 9 class ended up with the crown.
Students hauled more than 3,000 diapers and close to 1,000 hygiene items to the food bank.
“I think it was great that we were able to get lots of student involvement and show that Martin High School cares about our community” said NHS President and senior Olivia Harrison.
