Martin loses 5-3 decision in baseball to Eau Claire

Martin dropped a 5-3 Southwest Athletic Conference decision to Eau Claire Thursday in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader.
The second game was halted after only three and a half innings because of darkness and cold temperatures.

Jacob Robinson started and went the whole way for the Clippers, giving up five hits. All Eau

Clair runs were unearned.

Martin scored twice in the third inning and once in the fifth.

In the third, Vilas Morhland led off with a single and stole second. Zeke Dillenbeck singled him home and promptly stole second and third. He scored on a passed ball.

In the filth inning, Ryan Carruthers walked, stole second and scored on a single by Dillenbeck.

Dillenbeck finished the game with three hits and was joined in the hit column by Robinson and Morhland.

The loss dropped Martin’s overall season record to 1-7. The Clippers will travel to Delton for a cross-conference doubleheader.
