Martin native James “Jim” Michael McGuire, 51, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, in Terre Haute, Ind.
He was born Dec. 1, 1970, to James Albert McGuire and Joyce Marie (DeKam) McGuire in Martin. He worked as a process improvement specialist at Union Hospital, and was heavily involved at his church, Maryland Community Church, 12 Points Campus.
He enjoyed gardening at home and at the ISU community garden, Bible Study Fellowship, golfing, hiking and fishing. Jim had a heart for serving people. He volunteered with the chaplain’s office at Union Hospital every week and provided respite care through the foster care program. He was a devoted father and attended all his children’s activities.
He is survived by his wife, Kumi (Yamamoto) McGuire, whom he married in June 1996, his daughter Karen McGuire, son Alex McGuire, sister Christie Fontaine (Curt) of Martin, brother Doug McGuire (Kasandra) in Delton, along with several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Steve McGuire and Michael McGuire.
A celebration of life for Jim will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Maryland Community Church 12 Points Campus at 2000 N. 13th St. Visitation will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. Pastor Dan Gisel will be officiating.
