
It was a rough day for Martin at a Southwest Athletic Conference double dual meet Wednesday for both the boys’ and girls’ teams.
Both Clipper outfits absorbed defeats at the hands of Kalamazoo Hackett and Constantine. The boys lost 93-43 to Hackett and 116-21 to Constantine and the girls were defeated 83-53 by Hackett and 89-47 by Constantine.
As usual, Martin sophomore Veyda Conley dominated the distance runs, winning the 1600- and 3200-meter runs in 5:57 and 12:39.1, respectively.
Kayden Jager, also a sophomore, finished second in the 800 with a time of 3:00.25.
Ellyse Blackburn, Kyleigh Buell, Sara Schipper. An d Torryn Harris hooked up for a first-place finish in the 400-meter relay in 55.75, only four-tenths of a second faster than runner-up Constantine.
Another first was scored by Aliyah DeGlopper, only a freshman, who won the shot put with a throw of 29-3.
Senior Ellyse Blackburn cleared 4-8 to win the high jump.
Senior Alex Morin was third in the 800, fourth in the 1600 and second in the 3200.
Gavin Meyers was third in the 300-meter hurdles and he was third in the long jump.
Jadon Dettmann, Gari Salvador,-Garcia, Hunter Hayes and Alex Morin finished first in the 3200-meter relay in 9:57.29.
Peyton Schuring-Harris tossed shot 43-1 to take a second.
