The Martin Township Board Wednesday evening approved bids for snow removal at the township hall and library and for snow plowing at cemeteries.
Knightway Lawn and Landscape was awarded the bid for plowing snow at the township hall parking lot and the JC Wheeler Library across the street at $40 per incident. Knightway also will salt local walks nearby for $75 per time.
CNC Lawn Care and Landscaping won the bidding for cemeteries at $100 per incident at the old and new East Martin cemeteries and at $60 for South Cemetery.
CNS also was awarded the bid for removing 143 stumps at local cemeteries for $2,717, which amounts to $19 per stump.
“It’s a good investment, and it’s a one-time thing,” said Trustee Jack Sipple.
In other business Wednesday evening, the board:
- Learned that Patterson Avenue will be reopened Monday, Nov. 28, after having culvert and drain repairs completed over the Cuddy Drain, causing traffic detours. The work was supposed to be done by Nov. 15, but it was delayed by added work on a gas line.
- Agreed to use its full faith and credit to apply to the Gun Lake Sewer Authority bond project that will amount to $2.2 million, of which Martin will be responsible for $4,000 if something goes awry in the financing.
- Agreed to spend up to $500 for a used refrigerator requested by the fire department to replace a 1979 model at the township hall.
