Sophomore Veyda Conley of Martin was individual medalist in the Division 4 competition Saturday at the Otsego Invitational, but she barely missed her second time eclipsing 20 minutes for a 5K run this season.

After crossing the finish line in 19:46 last Wednesday, she settled for a first-place time of 20:01.29, more than 17 seconds faster than the runner-up.

The Lady Clippers, as a team, finished second.

Freshman Allison Rodgers checked in ninth, freshman DuRae Sage 11th, Emily King was 13th and Kayden Jager 14th.  Kalamazoo Hackett won it with 21 team points and Martin had 36.

The Martin boys and Hopkins girls and guys also competed in the Otsego meet.

The Clipper guys also were runners-up behind Hackett with 46 points. The Irish won with 17.

Alex Morin grabbed sixth place with a 5K time of 18:22.99. He was followed by Jadon Dettmann in 15th place, freshman Jeremiah VanHouten in 17th, Gary Salvador -Garcia 20th and Hunter Hayes 21st.

It wasn’t a particularly good day for the Hopkins guys and gals. The Lady Vikings took 16th among 22 teams and the Viking boys finished 17th.

Senior Kambria Moored again paced the Lady Vikings with a 12th place in 20:55.56. She was followed by teammates Allison Breining in 66th, Lillian Dewey 79th, Navaya Ingle 118th and Tuesday Stevens 120th.

Jack Estelle, as usual, led the Vikings with a quality time of 16:28.29, good for 18th place. Freshman Kash Moored was 47th in 17:11.84, Kenyon Katje 91st in 18:29.74, Isaiah Robinson 124th in 19:37.06 and Gavin Schans 127th in 19:39.38.
