Senior center Jazmine Hildebrand has become only the second Martin girls’ basketball player ever to score 1,000 points in her career.
Hildebrand netted 25 points and gathered 20 rebounds in a 70-48 victory for the Clippers Friday night over visiting Bloomingdale. Her point total now has reached 1,010 and she had snared 897 rebounds, making her 21st in that category statewide.
All-stater Julie Davis Kubiak was the first Clipper girl to reach the milestone and she finished her career in 1987 with 1,118, starring for the Martin team that was Class D state runner-up. Kubiak went on to play hoops at Olivet College, which is what Hildebrand is considering for next year.
Hildebrand’s father, Tracy, was an all-state defensive lineman for the Clippers in 1987 when they won the state Class D football championship[.
Hildebrand, a four-year starter in basketball at Martin, is considering playing hoops and softball at Olivet College.
The victory for Martin Friday night improved the team’s record this season to 2-4 overall.
