Mass of Christian Burial Friday for John Wolowicz

John Charles Wolowicz, age 72 of Middleville, Sunday, Jan. 16.

John was born on March 29, 1949, in Hastings to Walter and Julia (Narcaroti) Wolowicz. He served as a member of the United States Army, where he was a Purple Heart recipient.

He worked for Dover Corporation (Blackmer Pump) for over 40 years before retiring.

John stayed very active as a member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and VFW Post #7581, Wayland. In his free time, John enjoyed making kettle and caramel corn, maple syrup, smoking meats, and riding his trike motorcycle. He could often be found tinkering around his home or searching for treasures at flea markets, garage sales and even the occasional dumpster.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue; sons: Jason (Monica) Wolowicz, Matthew (Becky) Wolowicz; grandchildren: Dylan, Destiny, Dawson, Darin, Sara, Erika, Allison, Garrett; great grandchild, Oakley; sister, Charlotte (Marvin) VanDyke; several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

Relatives and friends may meet with John’s family from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Gun lake. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 45. Private burial will take place.
