McDuff’s earns $21,000 small business grant from MEDC

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has announced that McDuff’s Bar & Grille in Wayland, has been awarded a $21,670 small business grant.

The funding as part of the state’s “Match on Main” program, which offers up to $25,000 to businesses located on their municipality’s Main Street that are opening or expanding.

McDuff’s applied for a grant through the local Downtown Development Authority, of Main Street program.

This year, 113 business from 80 communities applied for the program, according to a Michigan Economic Development Corporation memo. A total of 31 businesses — 15 of which are restaurants — were awarded grants, totaling around $748,000.

A spokesperson for the MEDC said, “Small businesses are the cornerstone of what makes Michigan’s downtowns authentic. They bring vibrancy and contribute to a community’s sense of place.”

When contacted, McDuff’s declined to disclose specifically what the restaurant plans to do in expanding or changing.
