Because of the construction project along South Main Street, the Wayland post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (#7581) has announced there will be a different route for the annual Memorial Day parade.
It will start where it normally does, at the Michigan State Police post on North Main Street at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29. The procession will head south to Superior Street. The veterans will stop and perform their military salute and “Taps” at the mini park/flag at the corner North Main and East Superior. From there, the parade will head west to Church Street, then north to the city park, where it will end.
There will not be a luncheon at the VFW this year and veterans ask that residents support their local restaurants to enjoy lunch after the parade.
