Memorial service Aug. 18 for Tim Wicks of Hopkins

Timothy J. Wicks, 70 of Hopkins, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Wings Home in Allegan.

Born Nov. 18, 1952, in Allegan, he was the son of the late Bruce and Donna (Goodman) Wicks and the husband of Anna (Austin) Wicks. 

He worked at Parker Hannifin for over 20 years, most of those with a perfect attendance record. Tim was known as a hard-working and conscientious employee. Prior to that, he enjoyed working in the family business, Hopkins Elevator, with his father and brother.

Traveling abroad or on the lake shores of Michigan, Tim and his family enjoyed the journey, taking time to embrace their surroundings and be a part of nature.  Tim was known as an avid reader and also enjoyed hunting. Spending time with family meant the world to him, with his grandkids being his greatest joy.  Sitting on the deck with a cold beer also made for a great day.

Besides his wife of over 47 years, Anna, he is survived by his son, Nicholas Wicks (Rebecca Snide); his daughter, Jessica Wicks (Nicholas Donaldson); his brother, Terry (Shelly) Wicks; three grandchildren, Ty Staggs, Hunter Donaldson, and Knox Donaldson; and his many in-laws, Sally (Bert) Blain, Peggy (Bob) Morris; Beverly Hendrixson, Tom Austin, Joan Austin, Alice Oglesbee, John Austin, Carl (Lisa) Austin, Robin Creighton, Esther (Mike) VanLoon, and Dan Austin. Tim also had numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will meet with friends at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, The memorial service will begin immediately afterward Inurnment will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Hopkins Township.  Memorial donations may be made in Timothy’s name to the National Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter (300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923), the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741), Wings of Hope Hospice (530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010), or the Hopkins FFA (333 S. Clark St., Hopkins, MI 49328).
