Memorial service June 26 for retired Steeby teacher

A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at United Church of Wayland for retired Wayland elementary teacher Starlite Pardee, who died at age 98.

Starlite Few Pardee was born March 27, 1924, to Albert and Bomma Few in Borderland, W. Va. She met Kenneth A Pardee in May 1943 and after five months of dating they married on Oct. 1, 1943, in Elkton, Md., where he was stationed during World War ll.

She taught school for 25 years and retired in 1986. She taught fifth grade at Steeby Elementary most of her teaching career. Ken and Star lived in the Martin area for 41 years and retired to Zephyrhills Fla., for 25 years. For the last seven years she had lived at Carveth Village Assisted Living in Middleville.

The Pardees had five children, Kenneth R (Catherine), Ronald (Rosemary), James (Carol), William (Diana), and Luanne Delp (Terry). She had 15 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 36 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers, her husband Kenneth A, sons Ronald and William, daughter-in-law Diana, grandsons Paul Jamie Delp and Kenny Rodriguez.

The service at United Church will be officiated by Pastor Scott Fenner. Graveside services for family will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wayland Ambulance Service.
