Memorial service is next spring for Sonia Hines

Sonia Aileen (Gurney) Hines of Wayland died Thursday, Nov. 17, at her home just a week after her 88th birthday.

Sonia was a registered nurse and Allegan County property appraiser for several years from which she was retired. She loved to read, complete crossword puzzles, and travel in their motor home. She grew up in Wayland and lived here most of her life.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Roy Phillip Hines; children Randy and Betty Hines of Wildwood, Florida, Rebecca and Kenneth Glaspie of Wayland, Ryan (Skeeter) Hines of Wayland, Risa and Richard Wildman of Naples, Fla., and their children Brianna, Ashley, Noah, and Christian; sister, Drs. Nancy (Henry) Kanar of Ann Arbor, brother-in-law, Jim Bridleman of Charlotte, sister-in-law, Rose Boggs of Jenison, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Murlin (Irene) Gurney, Donald Gurney, Walter Gurney, Thomas (Emelda) Bartell; sisters Meysa Bridleman, Page (Andy) Trovato, Betty Wisniewski-Baker.

A small family graveside service and burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland has taken place. A memorial service will take place in the spring.
