Memorial service planned for later for Louis Harnish

Louis A. Harnish, age 92, of Wayland, died Saturday, March 21.

A 1945 Wayland High School graduate, he was employed at Kelvinator for more than 40 years. He also served as Dorr Township building inspector for several years. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4036 and belonged to the St. Stanislaus Men’s Society.

His many interests included dancing, playing cards, and coin collecting. He enjoyed flea markets, auctions, and building playhouses and other small structures. He had an exceptional memory and a wit that loved stumping people with puzzles and riddles. The stories and jokes he told left everyone with a chuckle and a smile on their face

Louis is survived by his wife, Annabelle; children Christine (Boyd) Navis, Larry (Lisa) Harnish, Steve (Jenett) Harnish, Mary Harnish, and Jane Post; stepchildren Brenda (Bub) Brainard, Jim (Karen) Bala, and Ron (Tina) Bala; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters Lucille Arndt and Norene Miklusicak; many nieces and nephews, and special friend, Dawn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence (Pattok); parents Joseph and Adeline Harnish; stepdaughter, Diane King; sister, Marian Schumaker; and brother, Arthur Harnish.

A private service will be held at St. Stanislaus Church, Dorr, where he was a lifelong member. A memorial mass and celebration of life service will be held at a later date to be announced. Interment is at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Louis may be made to Faith Hospice or St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
