Memorial service set for Wednesday for Dan Jager

Daniel R. Jager of Shelbyville died Thursday, Feb. 10, at the age of 71.

Dan was born in Kalamazoo on Dec. 11, 1950, to Ralph and Gertrude (Smit) Jager. He grew up farming with his dad and moved to Martin in 1977 to start Peaceful Road Farms with Terry and Keith Smit.

He graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 1969. On Feb. 28, 1975, he married Terri and together they had four children.

He loved to hunt and enjoyed watching races. He served as an elder and deacon at East Martin Christian Reformed Church and served on the Board of Review for Martin Township.

Dan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Terri; his children: Kevin (Kelly) Jager, Nate (Holli) Jager, Eric (Katie) Jager, Leesa Ream; his siblings: Martha (Lew) Bronsink, Joel (Cathy) Jager and Robert (Carol) Jager; ten grandchildren: Ryan (Morgan), Mitchell, Lynsey, Sam, Ben, Avery, James, Anna, Maggie and Logan, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation with Dan’s family and friends will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the East Martin Christian Reformed Church; 1782 5th St. Martin, where a memorial service will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can made to East Martin Christian School.
