Memorial service will be Thursday at VFW for Frank Medina, 50

A memorial service for Francisco Medina, 50, of Wayland, has been scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Wayland VFW Post No. 7581 on South Main Street.

Medina died in a traffic crash last Tuesday afternoon, July 28, in a truck-car crash on 142nd Avenue west of Kalamazoo Avenue in Leighton Township.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Wayland post said a pickup truck was eastbound on 142^nd Avenue at about 4 p.m. when a westbound passenger car crossed the center line and caused a head-on collision with the pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck, Keith Salas, 57, of Wayland, was transported to Spectrum Hospital for treatment of non-critical injuries. Medinia, the driver of the passenger car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
