The Dorr T11240490_10156025133185157_5333644353034059535_nownship Board Thursday evening will be asked to adopt resolution from Metro Health declaring they would support the concept of a medical office in the local community.

Metro Health officials, however, insist the request does not include any immediate plans to open an office or pavilion in Dorr and that the board will be asked only to express support for the concept.

“We are glad to know we would be welcome in the community,” said Ellen Bristol, Director, Communications & Public Relations, Metro Health.

“We are always seeking new and better ways to serve our community and make sure all community members have access to high quality care that is convenient for them.”

The news comes just after it has been noted a medical office in Hopkins was closed by Spectrum Health and the Gun Lake Medical facility, also overseen by Spectrum, has eliminated pharmacy services.

Included on the agenda for Thursday’s Township Board meeting is an item containing a “resolution showing board support for the concept of a health pavilion being built within the township of Dorr.”

The resolution itself reads:

“WHEREAS, the Township Board of Dorr Township has responsibility for the welfare of Dorr Township; and WHEREAS, townships may support the growth of businesses within the township; and

WHEREAS, townships may cooperate with other entities to promote improvements to help protect property and the health, safety, and welfare of the public; and

“WHEREAS, townships may pass resolutions to make public record of individual board members support for an idea or project; and

“WHEREAS, the Metro Health Hospital has make known that they have interest in building a Healthcare Pavilion within Dorr Township; and

“WHEREAS, the Township Board of Dorr Township wishes to show its support for a Healthcare Pavilion within the township;

“NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Township Board of Dorr Township, Allegan County, wishes to affirm its support for the concept idea of a Healthcare Pavilion being constructed within the Township of Dorr, and that the board will facilitate the completion of such Healthcare Pavilion as much as lies within its legal bounds allows it to do so.”
