Carolyn Whyte

Carolyn Whyte, principal at Wayland Middle School since 2006, is a finalist for the superintendent’s job at Grant Community Schools.

Whyte will be interviewed Tuesday evening at the Grant Middle School cafeteria.

Whyte earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary teaching in social studies in 1999 from Alma College, a master’s degree in secondary school administration in 2003 from central Michigan University and an educational specialist degree in school leadership from Grand Valley State University in 2015.

Whyte is one of six finalists. Grant Board of Education members hope to have a superintendent in place by July 1.

If she wins the position, she will be the third principal in the Wayland Union School District to leave since March. The other two are Mike Haverdink and Jennifer Moushegian, both of who have announced retirements.
