The suspect in the fatal shooting Monday night of a Monterey Township man has been apprehended and now is lodged in the Allegan County jail, according to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities indicated the man was located in the Grand Rapids area after his vehicle was located crashed into a tree in the area of 134th Avenue and 24th Street.
Suspect information will be released once formal charges are made and an arraignment has been completed.
The victim has been identified as Cody Cline, 35, from the Allegan who lived at the residence in Monterey Township where the incident occurred.
Authorities said they responded to a call just before midnight Monday from Allegan Central Dispatch about a shooting incident at a residence near 130th Avenue and 30th Street. Officers were told by subjects at the residence that an individual who had been visiting the home had shot one of residents outside and then fled the area.
Deputies found a man lying in the driveway who had sustained a possible gunshot wound and had suffered obvious fatal injuries.
This investigation is still ongoing and any updates will be sent out if they are warranted.
