Monterey veterinarian makes a case for twp. supervisor

To the residents of Monterey Township:

On Tuesday, A20798998-smallug. 2, I will be asking you to vote for me for supervisor.

We live in an amazing community. It doesn’t matter if you are new to the area, or if your family has been here for more than 100 years; Monterey is a place that you can call home. Your neighbors are much more than acquaintances, they are friends. I am very proud of this fact and as supervisor, I will be your servant to ensure that this township, and its residents thrive.

I travel to all corners of the township on a daily basis. This gives me a great opportunity to visit with all of you and see for myself what we are doing well and what needs improvement. I am very involved in the community as I own a mobile veterinary practice that serves this area. I also first respond for the ambulance helping township residents in their time of need. If elected I will be a good steward of your tax dollars and will ensure all of our programs are operating at peak efficiency.

It has become evident over the past four years that change is necessary. Meetings have turned from a place where business is accomplished to benefit all, to shouting matches where truth is left outside. Slanderous comments are made and then repeated on Facebook. This behavior is not acceptable, and will not occur while I am supervisor.

The current supervisor also failed to report to the township board about a potentiaLetter to editor_8l fire truck purchase. This failure almost cost the entire Hopkins Area Fire District thousands of dollars because they were forced to delay the purchase of a new apparatus until the supervisor could bring the proposal to the board several months late. Failing to ensure our fire department is adequately equipped will lead to increased fire insurance costs for our residents.

These are only a few of the many reasons why we need a change in this great township.
