More coming and going for downtown Wayland businesses

Though the fire at Giuseppe’s PGiuseppe's closedizza on West Superior Street near the Main intersection occurred in January, the building remains boarded up and there are no signs of life. Owners vowed to try to gain financing to rebuild and reopen, but there has been no word they have been able to do so.

Meanwhile, the new location for the thrift store to benefit America’s veterans opened its doors to the public earlier this month under the leadership of Kay VanDrunen. The West Michigan Veterans Assistance Program, which offers a variety of merchandise at very low prices, formerly was located on the southeast side WM Vets Assistanceof the old Harding’s Market building, next to Snap Fitness. Van Drunen said the new location on West Superior gives the operation more room and better visibility.
