Most of the annual Gun Lake Winterfest activities will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Yankee Springs State Park, but some of the events will get under way beginning Tuesday, Feb. 12 through Friday, Feb. 15.

The preliminary round of the bean bag tournament will take place at Red’s Sports Bar & Grill at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12. Entry fee is $30 per team.

The semifinals of the “Gun Lake Idol” contest will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Gun Lake Casino Stage 131.

The Euchre Tournament at VFW in Wayland will get under way at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, with a $10 entry fee.

Gun Lake Mayoral Debate will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at the Yankee Springs Club House

Saturday, Feb. 16:

• 6 a.m. — Registration begins for the Fishing Tournament at A Sportsman’s Attic.

• 8 a.m. — Fireman‘s Breakfast at Gun Lake Community Church. Visitors are welcome to check out the fire trucks.

• 8:30 a.m. — Home Team Disc Golf Challenge.

• 9:45 – Opening ceremony and flag raising by Forgotten Eagles.

• 10:00 — Opening ceremony with the Match-e-nash-she-be-wish Band of Pottwatomis (Gun Lake Tribe).

• 10:45 — .05-kilometer “Beer Run.”

• 11:00 — Gun Lake Idol finals; registration for Bean Bag finals; All tents are open;  Chicken Drop begins.

• Noon — Kids’ games available until 5 p.m.; Magic Show on the stage.

• 2:30 — Chili Cook-Off finals.

• 3:00 — Gorilla vs Ranger Challenge onstage.

• 3:30 — Gun Lake Idol winner crowned.

• 3:45 — Gun Lake Idol People’s Choice Awarded

• 4:00 — Polar Dip begins.

• 5:00 — 50/50 Raffle Drawing.

• 5:30 — Basket Winners Drawn.

• 5:30 —Tug of War between Fire Departments.

• Dusk — Flag Retirement Ceremony.

The Gun Lake Winterfest’s two charities are The Forgotten Eagles and the Star Legacy Foundation.
